What factors aligned to make Seattle a center for Global Health? Recently formed, The Washington Global Health Alliance’s (WGHA) goal is to "enhance the strengths and increase the capacity of global health organizations by encouraging and creating opportunities for greater collaboration among global health professionals, academics, and public and corporate entities". As the world becomes more interconnected, it is said that all healthcare is local, no matter how far away. But what is the situation really like in the far flung corners of the globe, and what does Seattle have to do with it?
CityClub is pleased to bring together the heads of three WGHA member organizations to talk about their individual organization's innovations, as well as how they are working together to create a nurturing environment for global health research, health care delivery, activism, and policy formation. Join us for this exciting conversation!

Fossil fuel dependence exacts an increasing toll on the economy, national security, and our environmental well-being. An alternative energy future is rich in promise and entrepreneurial opportunity, and Washington now ranks fourth in the country in clean-tech investment. With scores of newly-formed companies, who are some of the promising players? Will a weakening economy slow or stall their headway — or do green jobs offer a path to economic revitalization? Can any of the emerging solutions mature quickly enough to meet our needs? Join CityClub as we examine Washington-led energy innovation, and meet proponents of fresh approaches for gathering energy from the sun, the waves, biofuels, and gains in efficiency.
