From the Event Organizer
Cascadia Daily News will host its only candidate forum for the 2026 general election in October.
This year’s reader-powered Election Town Hall aims to bring together candidates in two highly competitive races for a Saturday evening open discussion forum: the 42nd District Senate seat and Whatcom County prosecutor.
CDN has invited Republican Erika Creydt and Democrat Michael Shepard, who are facing off for the 42nd seat, to the town hall to address local concerns about affordability, healthcare and taxes.
Jesse Corkern and Ryan Swinburnson are vying for Whatcom County prosecutor, an office that has been experiencing ongoing turmoil. The two have been invited to address the perceived exodus of attorneys, retention plans and overall policy on how cases are handled. Candidates will also answer audience questions during the forum.
The town halls will be held on Oct. 10 at the Sehome High School Theater from 5:30–7:30 p.m. This event is free to the public, though registration is required, and a $10 tax-deductible donation is suggested. All donations help CDN cover venue and operating costs.
Any funds raised beyond what is needed to pay for the event will support our Report for America healthcare reporter, Owen Racer.
More information on reserving seats is available at cascadiadaily.com/events.
All CDN election coverage is free to the public and available outside the paywall. CDN’s 2026 comprehensive Voter Guide, which will include candidates’ answers to questions that readers submitted during our Citizens Agenda process, will be inserted into the Oct. 16 print edition.
